7:15PM CT: Minnesota Vikings vs. Chicago Bears PK; Total 43
A primetime clash in the Windy City pits two NFC North rivals against each other. The Chicago Bears, under new head coach Ben Johnson, aim to turn over a new leaf. Can Johnson address Caleb Williams’ accuracy issues and tendency to take bad sacks by holding the ball too long? That’s what fans are eager to see. Meanwhile, the Minnesota Vikings debut rookie QB JJ McCarthy under center. Who will join the Packers atop the NFC North standings tonight?
The Bears are seeing strong support in the betting market. Bettors are backing the new coach, a confident Caleb Williams, and Chicago’s upgraded weapons. But is it enough? The Bears have lost 10 of their last 11 games and five straight against Minnesota. Can they finally break the streak?
The betting line shifted this evening from Vikings -1/-1.5 to a pick’em, with money pouring in on Chicago. There’s chatter on X about a referee who supposedly favors the home team, but I’m not buying it.
For me, the Vikings—despite their rookie QB—are a veteran squad with a seasoned head coach who will protect McCarthy. The Bears, on the other hand, are in a “show me” position. I can’t trust them until they prove themselves. Despite Chicago’s talent on both sides of the ball, they haven’t built a winning culture yet, as their win-loss record shows. The Vikings are hungry after a humiliating primetime playoff loss to the Rams. With new head coaches going 1-3 this week, I’m taking the Vikings in this spot. I know the games have been going UNDER the total like crazy but it’s time to zag. Just like last night. I think both teams get up in the twenties. I’m going lighter on the total. Vikings 27-23.
