NFL Record: (1-1) (-0.10 units)

  • 12:00PM CT: Carolina Panthers vs. Jacksonville Jaguars -4; Total 45.5

This game feels split between people who don't believe that Bryce Young has turned a corner and believers in the new Jacksonville head coach Liam Coen turning the Jaguars' offense around, versus Trevor Lawrence deniers and Bryce Young believers. Which one are you?

The Jaguars' passing defense was awful last season. They do have a new coaching staff, but will that change things? I am a believer in Bryce Young, this coaching staff, and the offensive line. The Jaguars are getting too much respect in my opinion. I’ll take the points

  • 12:00PM CT: Miami Dolphins vs. Indianapolis Colts -1; Total 46.5

The Dolphins are banged up and looking to extend the Colts’ home opener losing streak since 2013 today. I would say that the Colts are not getting enough respect today with Daniel Jones at QB, but they are now favored. This Dolphins' defense has potential, but they traded lockdown corner Jalen Ramsey for Minkah Fitzpatrick. I’m backing the Colts in a game where I will probably be holding my nose for four quarters, but I can see the Colts leaning on the run game to a victory.

  • 12:00PM CT: Arizona Cardinals -6 vs. New Orleans Saints; Total 44

Everyone and their mother is on the Cardinals on the spread and in survivor pools. Not so fast! Give me the Saints. Yes, they have a new head coach, Kellen Moore, and a short-statured QB who beat out a guy New Orleans drafted, possibly to tank this season. Apparently, that drafted QB was too ineffective even to start for intentional losses. Phew. I don’t mind being contrarian, especially in the first week of the season. How good will the Cardinals' defense be? Is Kyler Murray actually hurt? The Saints are 0-0, and if they come out to fight for one game, it might be this one. Let’s hope for a shootout with the Saints hanging around long enough to cover.

  • 12:00PM CT: New York Giants vs. Washington Redskins -6; Total 45.5

The Giants played the Commanders close in both games last season, which is why many people are backing the Giants. Can you trust Russell Wilson? Does he give this team the best chance at winning? The Giants will also be without their starting tackle, Andrew Thomas—a huge blow. I think the Commanders come out with something to prove. I can’t trust the Giants and Wilson without a starting tackle.

  • 12:00PM CT: Las Vegas Raiders vs. New England Patriots -2.5; Total 44

We're expecting a lot of rain in Foxborough today, setting the stage for a sloppy game between two teams with new coaching staffs eager to establish the run. Both defensive-minded coaches love to control the clock with the ground game. The total opened at 42.5 and climbed to 44.5 in some places. I disagree with the line movement. I like this one to stay under. Let’s see these defenses show up in Week 1!
