Off our dead-nuts handicap from Monday Night Football, it’s time to start Week 2 with a great matchup. Both teams had strong showings against their divisional opponents. The Packers shut down the Lions, but I wasn’t high on Detroit to begin with, so that was an easy cash for us. The Packers looked so impressive that this game opened at Green Bay -1 and moved to -4 until some Washington buyback brought it to -3.5. It stayed at a field goal and a hook all week until last night and today.
I rate these teams closer to their opening number of Green Bay -1, but not past -2.5 to a field goal. I’m not sure where the Washington disrespect is coming from. They weren’t as sharp as we expected against the Giants, but they still dominated them. The Packers’ statistics weren’t as eye-opening as one would think after watching them manhandle the Lions. My numbers have this game much closer than where the current line sits.
I’m not sure how you can look at both teams on a short week and tell me one is better than the other by more than a field goal. I’m just not seeing it in any direction, even if the Redskins were at home. I’m trusting my numbers, and I’m confident in what I’m playing. Let’s not forget, I didn’t rate the Lions very high, and while the Packers looked good, Dallas—who looked great against Philadelphia—is down to -4.5 at home against the Giants, who got dominated by Washington? It’s not adding up. I’m taking the points. I got +3.5 earlier in the week, but take the field goal or buy insurance due to the current juice on Green Bay.
