TAMPA – The latest episode of The Ultimate Fighter showcased a suspenseful matchup between Trevor Wells, representing Team McGregor, and Timur Valiyev, representing Team Chandler.
Both fighters came out swinging in the first round, as they both landed significant strikes, but one fighter was to come out victorious. Wells came into the fight, set to give Team McGregor its first win of the season.
However, as the dust settled at the end of the second round, Valiyev secured a victory for Team Chandler by unanimous decision, adding to the woes of Team McGregor, who have not yet tasted victory in this competition.
As MMA fans have been following season 31, expectations were high for McGregor’s winless team, as they needed a win in the competition.
In Episode 4, Trevor Wells stepped into the octagon, fueled with a hunger to give McGregor its first win. Standing across the cage was Timur Valiyev, another veteran eager to keep Team Chandler’s winning streak alive.
Throughout this fight, Wells’ tenacity and striking precision were on full display, but it would be Valiyev, with impressive counters, strong defense, and takedowns, that would not just keep him in the fight, but ultimately win him the fight. The judges decided that he was the winner and would be moving on in the competition.
With another defeat for Team McGregor, the Notorious team suffers another setback, as they have yet to find any success. Many fight fans are wondering if McGregor has lost his touch, as not only has his team yet to win a single fight, but his fight with Michael Chandler, set to take place at the end of the season, is off. McGregor’s time to take a USADA drug test is up, and he never took the test.
With this fight being called off, what will replace the finale? And with McGregor not taking a drug test, is it safe to say that Conor McGregor does not have his heart and mind in the fight game anymore?
Tune in to Episode 5 of The Ultimate Fighter to see Season 27 Winner of The Ultimate Fighter, Brad Katona, take on Team McGregor’s Carlos Vera. The war begins on Tuesday, June 27, at 10:00 pm EST, on ESPN and ESPN+.
