NBA Turn Up: Sunday Preview
The objective of the series: NBA Turn Up
2:40pm cst: Brooklyn Nets vs. Denver Nuggets (-9); total 230.5
Denver has lost its last two games in a row and the Nets are on a nice 5-0 against the spread run. This number may be a bit too high so I’ll side with the Nets to stay hot.
Some decent looking player props to choose from here. I like when Cam Johnson's points total is below 16 so I’ll go there. With Johnson and Bridges defending Michael Porter Jr. I think they will slow him down, which they usually did in Phoenix.
Pick: Nets +9
Cam Johnson Over 15.5 Points (-115)
Michael Porter Jr. Under 15.5 Points (-115)
4:10pm cst: Cleveland Cavaliers (-9.5) vs. Charlotte Hornets; total 220
Cleveland will be without Jarrett Allen but Darius Garland will start. I’m not too sure I feel comfortable taking the points with the Hornets even though it is a pretty inflated number but it’s still the Hornets. But there are a couple props I like. Darius Garland points over is also a look. Same with Donavon Mitchell if you prefer Cavs here.
Pick: PJ Washington Over 17.5 Points (+105)
Terry Rozier Over 32.5 Points, Assists & Rebounds (-120)
5:10pm cst: Washington Wizards vs. Philadelphia 76ers (-7.5); total 226.5
Wizards have had success recently against the 76ers covering 2/3. The Sixers have been unsuccessful trying to cover these larger numbers as a favorite. In Philly’s last 10 games they haven’t covered a number over -5. This looks like a good spot for the Wizards who it looks like are getting too many points.
Kristaps Porzingis has also put up nice numbers against the Sixers and his PRA number is and feels too low. Kuzma doesn’t put up very high numbers against Philly. Tyrese Mazey has been scoring more than 21 points his last 3 games against Washington as well.
Pick: Wizards +7.5
Kristaps Porzingis Over 32.5 Points, Rebounds & Assists (-115)
Tyrese Maxey Over 26.5 Points, Rebounds & Assists (-115)
Portland Trail Blazers (-2) vs. New Orleans Pelicans; total
Pelicans will be without Brandon Ingram today and they are also on a back to back. Pelicans are normally not very successful in the second game of back to backs posting a 3-6 record so I lean towards Portland here.
Pick: Trail Blazers -2
Jerami Grant Over 19.5 Points (-105)
6:00pm cst: Oklahoma City Thunder (-3.5) vs. San Antonio Spurs; total 236.5
The Thunder will be without SGA and Spurs won’t have Keldon Johnson, Jeremy Sochan or Tre Jones. The Spurs are coming off a huge win Friday against the Nuggets so I can see a let down here. This is a short number with all the players missing for San Antonio.
I like Malaki Branham to take over offensively for the Spurs tonight. Josh Giddey and Jalen Williams also have good games against San Antonio and there won’t be SGA on the floor tonight either.
Pick: Thunder -3.5
Malaki Branham Over 14.5 Points (-105)
8:00pm cst: New York Knicks vs. LA Lakers (-2.5); total 225.5
The Knicks have lost 3 games in a row and will be playing without Jalen Brunson. The Lakers have won 4/5 and are looking to continue its hot streak. This will be the 2nd game with D’Lo back in the starting lineup in a while. His first game back he took over the offense with Dennis Schroeder and Anthony Davis didn’t get much offense in. I rather buy on the hot team and fade the Knicks here. The Knicks are also on a back to back so that is also a reason to fade without Brunson.
Offensively Quickley could do some damage against D’Lo and Schroeder. There are also some other opportunities for the Lakers role players in the player prop market. Short number for Hachimura, Reeves and Schroeder. I like the Lakers guards in this matchup. If you like the Knicks I would suggest RJ Barrett and Immanuel Quickley but even as underdogs they do have high totals especially off a back to back.
Pick: Lakers -2.5
D’Angelo Russell Over 18.5 Points (-120)
Austin Reeves Over 11.5 Points (-125)
Rui Hachimura Over 9.5 Points (-105)
