NBA Turn Up: Friday Preview
The objective of the series: NBA Turn Up
6:00pm ct: Portland Trail Blazers vs. Philadelphia 76ers (-8.5); total 233
Side: Philly is coming back home after a very long road trip which they performed better than expected only losing to Dallas. Portland is on a road trip of its own where they have struggled against better competition without Anfernee Simmons. For the side you could think of it one of two ways: 1. the Sixers are that much better and should beat the Blazers by 10 points or 2. This is the Sixers’ first game back home and they could play come out flat. Simmons will start tonight for Portland.
Props: James Harden is set at 40.5 points, assists and rebounds but I think that is spot on. Jerami Grant and Tobias Harris’ number for total points is low here. I would look that way.
6:00pm ct: Atlanta Hawks (-2) vs. Washington Wizards; total 238
Side: The Wizards have had plenty of success against the Hawks in the past. Wizards loss by 2 when they met a couple days ago. I liked Washington then and I like them again today getting points.
Prop: I like Kyle Kuzma points over 21.5 but it’s juiced heavily at -145 so not worth it at that price. But every Wizards player prop has high juice so I’m comfortable just taking the points.
Pick: Wizards +2
7:00pm ct: Cleveland Cavaliers vs. Miami Heat (-2); total 212.5
Side: Last time out the Miami Heat shot over 50% against the Cavaliers but still lost the game by 4 points. Miami had way too many turnover and the Cavs didn’t miss any FTs. It is hard to back Miami here with Gabe Vincent starting at PG because Darius Garland had his way with him. I like the prop market more here.
Prop: Bam only had 1(!) rebound last time mainly because he was in foul trouble. I don’t think that will happen again but he is going against the Cavs’ twin towers.
Pick: Jarrett Allen Over 24.5 Points, Rebounds & Assists (-110)
Jimmy Butler Over 21.5 Points (-125)
Tyler Herro Over 18.5 Points (-125)
7:00pm ct: Brooklyn Nets vs. Minnesota Timberwolves (-4.5)
Side: If Brooklyn is at full health here with Cam Johnson I would take the points with the Nets. They have been on a run covering spreads and playing hard each night. I don’t think the T-Wolves should be laying 4.5. A bit steep. I wouldn’t play a side here.
Props: Cam Johnson’s points total is pretty low here at 16.5. He hasn’t gotten this number the last two times out so it’s a good time to buy low.
Pick: Cam Johnson Over 16.5 Points (-110)
9:30pm: Toronto Raptors (-2.5) vs. LA Lakers; total 224
The Raptors have historically had the Lakers’ number but I like the way LA has been playing with an obsessed Anthony Davis. He hasn’t played like this since his New Orleans days. He is on another level. I’m going back to the well here with Davis and the Lakers until we get stopped.
Pick: Lakers +2; Anthony Davis Over 44.5 Points, Assists & Rebounds (-115)
