The fun and games of summer are over and it's time to kick off the NFL season. The defending champion Philadelphia Eagles are hosting their rival, the Dallas Cowboys. The Cowboys played the Eagles twice without star quarterback Dak Prescott under center, losing both. Both teams will be looking slightly different this time around.
The Philadelphia Eagles' defense lost a couple of key pieces from their Super Bowl team, as well as dealing with some injury issues. It's no secret that the Cowboys traded Micah Parsons to the Packers. This is a major positive, in my opinion. They beef up the middle with Kenny Clark and get rid of a toxic locker room/sideline distraction. Dallas also drafted pass rushers in back-to-back years. The young rushers will be ready. Look out for James Houston off the edge.
I'm only concerned about two things in this matchup: Can Dak protect the ball? Will Dallas be able to stop the run? I'm expecting a great game from Dak with his new weapon, George Pickens, opening up some room for CeeDee Lamb. The running game is still an unknown for Dallas. Philly is a run-first team, and they will be looking to test the new Cowboys defensive front. It's an interesting matchup. I grabbed this earlier in the week with Dallas +9. Even at +8, this is a huge spread in a divisional matchup. I like Dak to have a great game and keep this one close. He has excelled in Philly and on Thursday Night Football. Too large of a number to lay—give me Dallas.
