Ruben’s Rants: Stream & Scream!

Why is it that even though I live in Texas sometimes I can’t watch my Texas teams without having to subscribe to some streaming service in addition to my satellite service? I pay for 145 channels and that still isn’t enough! I have to stream on multiple different services just to watch the sports I enjoy.
Cable / satellite is expensive enough without having to pay extra to watch ones local team. I never thought I would miss the days of having only three channels but at least they were free. Granted, the service was spotty and sometimes I had to climb on the roof to move the antenna to get a better reception. After all of that the picture was still sometimes “snowy” but I would rather have my eyes a little blurry than totally poked out with these ridiculous prices!

I understand one could make the argument that having multiple streaming services and the ability to watch out of market games is amazing. I would agree. It’s not being able to watch your local teams that is the problem, America.

Sometimes all I want to do is watch the Longhorns and Spurs.

This past weekend I missed the Longhorns basketball game vs. Oklahoma because it was showing exclusively on its own network. Due to this, the game was NOT being shown a the bar / restaurant I was visiting. I also missed the Longhorn baseball tournament due to needing ANOTHER different paid streaming service.

The local San Antonio Spurs do not even play on satellite without the added sports package! Maybe that’s why Bally’s Sports is now bankrupt so who knows if I’ll be able to watch them this year without some sort of hassle.
