NBA Las Vegas Summer League: Day 6
It is time for the much anticipated Las Vegas Summer League in the NBA where the new draft picks get to show what they are made of. This is a one of a kind opportunity for those players still looking to make G-League rosters and fit into their new NBA rotations. We will update as much as possible with early scouting reports and handicaps for wagering. We got off to a good SL start so let us keep it goin’. We are betting 1 unit to win x.
NBA Las Vegas Summer League Record: (+8.94 units)
2:30pm cst: Los Angeles Clippers vs. Memphis Grizzlies -4.5
The last time the Clippers played they had all of their NBA starters sitting courtside and the SL guys showed out. Especially one of the oldest SL players Xavier Moon. He couldn’t miss. I do not expect that to happen again. The Grizzlies have NBA players on their roster and already have two losses. This is a game where they bounce back. I can see a bit of a hangover for the Clippers. This number is moving so grab it!
Pick: Grizzlies -4.5 (-110)
3:00pm cst: Minnesota Timberwolves vs. Atlanta Hawks -2
The Timberwolves play hard every game. Their offense just could not keep up with the deeper Utah Jazz last time out. In the Hawks’ last game they shot the lights out from deep. I do not expect that to happen again against Minnesota. I love the Timberwolves defense. They run full court press with Minott and multiple zones with great defensive length. I disagree with the number here. The Leonard Miller show will continue.
Pick: Timberwolves ML (+110)
4:30pm cst: Golden State Warriors vs. Dallas Mavericks -4
The Mavericks are getting a lot of respect here but they have shown great improvement. The Warriors live and die with Lester Quinones shooting threes and flopping their way to victory. This Mavrericks team is starting to use its speed and defense to their advantage. With players like OMax, Mike Miles Jr., Jaden Hardy and Derrick Lively they are playing with tons of energy.
Pick: Mavericks -4 (-110)
5:00pm cst: Toronto Raptors vs. Detroit Pistons -5
I do not like the way the Raptors have looked thus far. They have not played like a team and they only jack up three point shots. Grady Dick has not looked very good either. The last time the Pistons played they got the tar kicked out of them by the Rockets. I expect a spirited effort from this team. James Wiseman appears to be taking a leap. If Wiseman, Duren and Ivey play I expect a big game.
Pick: Pistons -5 (-110)
6:30pm cst: Oklahoma City Thunder -4 vs. Indiana Pacers
The Thunder sat out 7 players yesterday without announcing it so that they would be rested for this game. The thing is, the last time the Thunder played a physical team like the Houston Rockets the Rockets destroyed them. What are the Pacers? A physical team. Led by Bennedict Mathurin, Jarace Walker and Andrew Nembhard who are all experienced and physical. This number opened OKC -1 and now it has ran up to 4. I’ll take the Pacers in what should be the best game of the day.
Pick: Pacers ML (+150)
7:00pm cst: New York Knicks vs. Orlando Magic -1.5
Those who have been following us know that this Knicks team is poor. The Orlando Magic are much better. They do not have the best roster but have been close in every game. It looks like the Magic have bulked up their roster as well. Anthony Black will have his best game yet.
Pick: Magic -1.5 (-110)
8:30pm cst: Denver Nuggets vs. Utah Jazz -3.5
The Denver Nuggets have a solid team but they have been very inconsistent. They also cannot compete with this Jazz offense. Keyonte George has yet to be stopped and Denver does not have any defense to stop him. There is also Johnny Juzang, Samanic and Potter who can stretch the floor as big men. This Jazz offense is humming.
Pick: Jazz -3.5 (-110)
9:00pm cst: Los Angeles Lakers -3.5 vs. Boston Celtics
We talk about this every other day and that is how the Lakers are getting better every game. The Laker guards are becoming more and more confident. Boston has a strong team but in their last game they were very underwhelming. I’ll take the experience here.
Pick: Lakers -3.5 (-110)
