NBA Summer League: Wednesday Handicaps
It is time for Summer League in the NBA where the new draft picks get to show what they are made of. These are exhibition showcases until the Vegas Summer League Tournament but it is never too early to gain new fans at these players’ new franchises. We will update as much as possible with early scouting reports and handicaps for wagering.
NBA Summer League Record: (+0.00 units)
5:00pm cst: Golden State Warriors vs. Charlotte Hornets -1.5
The Warriors were defeated in their first game against the Sacramento Kings behind Keegan Murray’s 29 points. The Warriors’ Quinones dropped 26 points himself while 1st round pick Brandin Podziemski had 12 points, 6 rebounds and 6 assists. The Hornets were defeated by the Spurs by 22 points. The Hornets summer roster is not very strong. They are led by 2nd year man James Bouknight and 1st round pick Brandon Miller. After those two, there really is not much else going for the Hornets. The Warriors have a little bit more talent. Hungrier talent as well. Wrong team favored going into tonight. I hope Brandon Miller has a better game but I do not think it will be enough. Also, possible look ahead to them Wemby showdown in Vegas Friday.
Pick: Warriors ML (+105)
7:00pm cst: San Antonio Spurs -4 vs. Los Angeles Lakers
The San Antonio Spurs came out with a vengeance in game 1 destroying the Charlotte Hornets. These young Spurs are playing without Victor Wembanyama and they could not be anymore locked in before their Vegas debut Friday. I watched the Heat vs. Lakers game the Lakers looked out of sorts. They have some decent young talent starting with Jalen Hood-Schifino, Max Christie and Collin Castelton. If the Spurs can cut down on the turnovers they will be in even better shape. I like the Spurs here behind Julian Champagnie. If the other Spurs step up offensively they should have a successful night.
Pick: Spurs -4 (-110)
9:00pm cst: Miami Heat vs. Sacramento Kings -2.5
In the first game Keegan Murray carried the Kings to a victory with his 29 points. The Miami Heat had help from multiple players like Nikola Jovic, Jaime Jaquez Jr. and Chase Audige. The Heat also has a strong summer roster that also include Omar Robinson in his 2nd season from Fresno State and Drew Peterson from USC. If Miami gameplans its defense around stopping Murray they will be in perfect position as they have the stronger offensive roster. I prefer the deeper Miami roster with great talent.
Pick: Miami ML (+115)
