MLB Handicaps: Monday

Yesterday’s DDSN Player of the Game: CJ Abrams 4/5 with 1 HR, 1 RBI, 2 R and 2 SB

These prices are per Draft Kings, which are similar to FanDuel if those are available to you. Some use off shore accounts that have more juice than what is listed or are unavailable. If H+R+RBI is unavailable to you then I suggest you split a 1 unit bet 33% each or whatever % you’d like to 1 or 2 hits, 1 run & 1 RBI. You should get + money on 2/3 of those and that will help long term. Or find a way to pair them up in 2’s or 3’s (parlay). For baseball season, I personally bet 1 unit to win X and don’t lay more than -165. This refers most to player props. Questions? Just ask!

MLB Units For August: (0.00 units)

Early Slate

  • 5:40pm cst: Washington Nationals (+185) vs. Philadelphia Phillies (-225) POSTPONED

The numbers say this game should go over the total but 10 runs is about spot on. Phillies with a huge number at home against the Nationals who have won five of their last six games. I’ll go over the total here with both offense currently hot.

Pick: Over 10 (-112)

  • 5:40pm cst: Miami Marlins (-142) vs. Cincinnati Reds (+120)

Both of these teams are struggling losing 7 of their last 10. Eury Perez is back in the big leagues and is getting the start tonight. The Marlins also do well against LHP and they will be facing Brandon Williamson. I feel like the Marlins number here is a bit too pricey. I rather bet on a pitching duel with two struggling team.

Pick: Under 10.5 (-115)

  • 5:40pm cst: Minnesota Twins (-175) vs. Detroit Tigers (+145)

Joey Wentz takes the mound for the Tigers tonight who has been roughed up this season but is strong against the Twins. The same situation with Pablo Lopez but the Tigers were able to hit him a bit in his first start against them. This would be the perfect spot to take the Tigers as dirty as it may feel. Playing on Joey Wentz’ strikeouts.

Pick: Tigers (+145)

Joey Wentz Strikeouts Over 4.5 (-115)

Evening Slate

  • 6:00pm cst: Atlanta Braves (-298) vs. Pittsburgh Pirates (+240)

The Braves are 7-0 vs. the Pirates this season. Spence Strider is on the mound against a rookie and Spencer Strider does not even have + money on his strikeouts over 9.5. This game is a pass for me.

Pick: NA

  • 6:00pm cst: Chicago Cubs (-105) vs. New York Mets (-115)

The Cubs are steaking right now after being down in the dumps for almost two months. The Mets on the other hand are as low as can be right now. They also struggle against LHP and will be facing a tough opponent in Drew Smyly. Kodai Senga has been one of the few bright spots for the Mets. My gut is telling me the Cubs and the under is the way to go in this one. I’ll take the Cubs on a cheap number.

Pick: Cubs (-105)

  • 6:00pm cst: Kansas City Royals (+170) vs. Boston Red Sox (-205)

Cole Ragans will be making his second start with the Royals after not allowing any runs in six innings. Brayan Bello is a huge favorite though while the Red Sox are on a four game losing streak and are as close to ice cold as they can get. Good chance to play the Royals who are very hot but have lost their last two.

Pick: Royals (+170)

  • 6:00pm cst: Toronto Blue Jays (-125) vs. Cleveland Guardians (+105)

Hyun-Jin Ryu will be on the mound for the 2nd time this season against the Guardians’ Gavin Williams. This is a short number for a very hot Blue Jays team. I may just bite. Let’s see if we get caught in a trap.

Pick: Blue Jays (-125)

  • 7:00pm cst: New York Yankees (-170) vs. Chicago White Sox (+142)

Dylan Cease is not in good shape at least after his last start against Texas. He also has terrible numbers against the Yankees which does not help. I do not trust Cease even in a bounce back spot. Also, the Yankees are too high to play. I lean towards the over but would be dicey with Gerrit Cole and Dylan Cease going at it.

Pick: NA

  • 7:00pm cst: Colorado Rockies (+205) vs. Milwaukee Brewers (-250)

Freddy Peralta on the mound tonight which explains the Brewers number here. They are also at home so I do not want to take a chance with the Rockies. Pass.

Pick: NA

Night Slate

  • 8:30pm cst: San Francisco Giants (-120) vs. Los Angeles Angels (+100)

The Angels are in a free fall since the trade deadline. The Giants are starting to heat up and battle out west. Logan Webb is not as great on the road but he is still strong. These teams have not played each other in two years so not much data to go off of tonight. I am going with the under in a pitching duel.

Pick: Under 8.5 (-115)

  • 8:30pm cst: Texas Rangers (-238) vs. Oakland Athletics (+195)

Dan Dunning on the road is always dicey and never a guarantee. Rangers are scorching hot so this will be a solid time to take the over.

Pick: Over 9 (-105)
