College Baseball: CWS Futures

We have made it to the NCAA Super Regionals where we will be discussing the CWS Futures Market. I’ll go over all of the matchups for those looking for CWS champion positions. Those that have been following us throughout the College Baseball season know we have pre tournament futures on Duke and TCU. Let’s get into it and Check out our home page where all the regional handicaps will be daily.

CWS Futures

  • Friday 11am cst: Duke Blue Devils (22/1) vs. Virginia Cavaliers (6/1)

Virginia has some great MLB prospects that have led the way offensively. The Cavaliers demolished everyone put in their path that includes a tough East Carolina team. Virginia also has a great home field advantage. They are matchup against Duke who we have a 300/1 and 45/1 ticket on to win it all. The reason why we bought back in have the 45/1 ticket on Duke because they beat Virginia in Charlottesville 2/3 games. Duke can beat this Virginia team and although the Cavaliers are a good team, being 6/1 favorites to win it all is a terrible price. Winner of this series plays the winner of South Carolina and Florida. Of course, I like Duke but Virginia is as good as anyone in the country who may be feeling a little too good after sweeping its regional. Duke has a great offense and some of the best pitching in the country. It’s Duke or pass because of the price. Circa Sports for those in Iowa or Las Vegas has Duke at 30/1, which is another steal.

Pick: Duke 25/1 via Bovada or 30/1 via Circa Sports

  • Friday 4pm cst: Indiana State Sycamores (30/1) vs. TCU Horned Frogs (15/1)

The cardiac Sycamores against the powerhouse TCU Horned Frogs in what should be a great matchup. Indiana State had to comeback and win in the majority of its games while TCU was a juggernaut. Neither team lost a game in regionals. This TCU team has hit its stride and the confidence is at an all time high. This Super is matched up with Oral Roberts and Oregon so they makes me love our TCU position even more. This is a perfect spot to buy in on TCU if you haven’t already. We already have our 45/1 ticket on TCU so might as well

Pick: TCU 15/1

  • Friday 5pm cst: South Carolina Gamecocks (12/1) vs. Florida Gators (7/1)

This should be a blood bath. South Carolina swept the Gators at home in Columbia earlier in the season. After the Gators lost to Texas Tech and then escaped UCONN they have turned into the powerhouse they were expected to be this season. Florida has such a short number so I cannot advise taking them. After the Gamecocks swept Florida I expect a spirited performance. These Gators are revigorated but South Carolina should not be slept on after they swept their Regional. I cannot see this Florida team losing 2/3 or being swept again.

Pick: None

  • 7pm cst: Oral Roberts Golden Eagles (40/1) vs. Oregon Ducks (14/1)

A couple dirty dogs that may sneak up on everyone in this tournament. Oregon who I am sure nobody realized swept their regional. The Ducks defeated Vanderbilt twice and Xavier. Oregon has an extremely interesting pitching rotation / bullpen strategy that has been working. They use their pitchers in small doses like 3 innings or less continuously. If they were able to outduel the Vandy pitching staff twice, that is saying something. Oral Roberts has a great offense and a solid pitching staff that led to them sweeping their regional. After beating an in state Oklahoma State twice and knocking off Dallas Baptist I expect a let down. Oregon has the momentum and will be playing in Eugene. The price on ORU is nice but it is just such a massive let down. Believe me, Oral Roberts making it this far is no fluke. They are the real deal. It is just whether or not they can beat Oregon on the road. We were all over ORU because they beat OSU twice during the season and OSU was not very good in regards to its pitching staff. If you like high prices then ORU is great. Pass for me because we are invested with TCU who would play the winner here if they defeat Indiana State. Oregon now up to 22/1 at Bovada which is a crazy number. This Ducks team is extremely underrated.

Pick: None

  • Saturday 11:00am cst: Alabama Crimson Tide (x) vs. Wake Forest (4/1)

As we have been talking about for week, Alabama has been pulled Off The Board due to its ex coach gambling on the teams’ games. Some books have them up but we will not be betting them. Wake Forest comes in as the #1 seed and the odds on favor to win it all. Don’t get me wrong, they are a good team but they played in the weaker ACC compared and this will be their first matchup against a school from the South East. I would take Florida and LSU before I take Wake Forest. Even if the Demon Deacons advance they will need to defeat either Texas or Stanford, which is no easy feat. No plays for me here but I am interested to see how Wake Forest fairs against SEC competition.

Pick: None

  • Saturday 2:00pm cst: Kentucky Wildcats (12/1) vs. LSU Tigers (6.5/1)

We have ourselves another SEC showdown. When these two met earlier in the year LSU won 2/3 in Baton Rouge. These prices are accurate. Like we talked about, LSU is one of the top 3 teams in the country top to bottom loaded with MLB talent. Kentucky was so up and down in its regional. They would get a lead, then blow it and then the offense would randomly have a break out game. I would towards the over in this series but I can only back LSU here. The way the bracket is laid out, winner would play the winner of Tennessee and Southern Miss. So, if one was to take a short favorite price it would be LSU at 6.5/1 or any number that is not the #1 favorite. LSU is my #1 team left so this is a good price. I’m not betting it but notating that this is a pick for those who want to play it.

Pick: None

  • Saturday 2:00pm cst: Tennessee Volunteers (9/1) vs. Southern Miss Golden Eagles (30/1)

We talked about this last weekend and that is this Tennessee team has flown under the radar while playing great baseball. Last season they had so much hype but fell completely flat not getting out of regionals. The Vols will be on the road, which is a huge advantage for Southern Miss. The Golden Eagles come into this game after a somewhat rough regional. They needed quite a few comebacks to make it through to regionals. It was a grind for them. This is a great price for Southern Miss here. They are just as good as any team that remains. The only issue is if they advance they will more than likely have to play LSU at least once. I do not want to pass up on this price for a solid Golden Eagles team at home.

Pick: Southern Miss 30/1 via Draft Kings & Bovada

  • Saturday 5:00pm cst: Texas Longhorns (20/1) vs. Stanford Cardinal (16/1)

Two perennial power houses are matched up for what should be a great series! I’m assuming UT will pitch Lucas Gordon in Game 1 and Lebarron Johnson Jr. in Game 2. That would be the most logical rotation. Quinn Matthews came in to shut the door on the Aggies so there is a good chance he pitches Game 2 but there is no telling. We were worried about the UT offense last weekend after its poor performance in the Big 12 Championship but they played great all weekend. I also like Stanford and the way its offense played in regionals. What separates these teams is the pitching staffs where I give the edge to UT. If Lucas Gordon starts and Texas wins Game 1 I expect them to win the series. This is a great price on UT that is too good to pass up.

Pick: Texas 20/1 via Draft Kings
