College Hoops Friday Night
Boise State travels to The Pit tonight to face the New Mexico Lobos in a Mountain West showdown.
Last night we were knocked down a peg going (2-4) mostly due to some bad offensive games from Oregon State and USC. They could not score to save their lives. ASU couldn’t score any points the final 6 minutes against UCLA. Also, the Arizona Wildcats may be back after that performance last night. They haven’t looked that good since they were in Maui. We are now at 51% so let’s dive into tonight’s small card before we load up for Saturday.
#20 VCU Rams vs. Richmond Spiders (-1); total 131.5; 6:00pm ct
We have a great matchup here in the Atlantic-10 with the newly ranked Rams of VCU taking on the Spiders of Richmond. This looks to be another “rat trap” game. One that shapes up like the games we saw this week: Baylor vs. Texas Tech (favored), TCU vs. West Virginia (fav.) and Michigan vs. Maryland (fav.). Baylor the only road team that won. Give me Richmond at home after VCU’s crazy comeback last Friday that got us the victory. Will we get caught in the trap or take the cheese?
Villanova Wildcats vs. St. John’s Red Storm (-4); total 150.5; 6:00pm ct
Those that have been following us know that we love the Red Men and HC Mike Anderson. The Johnnies have been on a tear lately and I do not see that coming to an end here tonight at home. St. John’s speed and physicality should be enough to get us the cover here. Villanova does have great guard play but I’m siding with the hot team.
Boise State Broncos vs. New Mexico Lobos (-3); total 145.5; 10:00pm ct
This is as big of a game as any New Mexico has had at home in The Pit. The Lobos went down at home against UNLV but after defeating San Diego State on the road I like the Lobos to keep it rolling. Friday night prime time in The Pit? Sign me up with the Lobos in this spot to prove they belong at the top of the Mountain West.
Short card today and we will be posting tomorrow’s breakdown as soon as the spreads come out. Most likely work on it late tonight and get it out early tomorrow morning. Enjoy some great Friday Night Hoops!
