College Baseball:

  • 3/4/23: Oklahoma Sooners (-120) vs. Mississippi State Bulldogs (-110); 1:00pm

The Sooners stole a game from the Cal Bears after ace SP Ian May left the game for the Golden Bears with an arm injury after 2 scoreless innings. The bullpen was not ready to carry the game and became the demise for Cal. OU took advantage. Sooners are to start SP RHP Will Carsten from San Antonio, TX (1-0, 2.70 ERA) with 8 strikeouts and 3 walks in 10 innings pitched. Mississippi State is starting one of its better SP in LHP Graham Yntema (1-0, 2.45 ERA) with 10 strikeouts and only 1 walk. In his first start he had a great game against Arizona State striking out 6 allowing only 1 earned run. The Sooners trio of Spikerman, Harris and Nicklaus carry the offense and they did so last night. I don’t see 4 errors holding back MSU in this one. Bulldogs bounce back.

Pick: Mississippi State (-110); $100 bet to win $90.91

  • 3/4/23: Ohio State Buckeyes (+140) vs. Cal Golden Bears (-175); 2:00pm

This game is taking place in Frisco, TX at the Frisco College Baseball Classic. The Buckeyes took advantage of 4 errors from Mississippi State and got the win. Cal on the other hand, lost its ace (for the time being) from an arm injury and took a loss from OU exhausting some of its bullpen. What I like here is OSU will be starting UT transfer RHP Justin Eckhardt from Sealy, TX (0-1, 6.75 ERA) who has been roughed up pretty good in two outings this season (just like at UT). I’m not sure if being back in the Lone Star State would help any. I like Cal but the price is spot on going against Eckhardt. Pass. If you need a play look at the over.

Pick: NA

  • 3/4/23: #20 TCU Horned Frogs (-120) vs. #11 Louisville Cardinals (-110); 3:00pm

I’m extremely pissed and disappointed I didn’t make Louisville an official play against A&M. We have faded A&M all season and didn’t against a no brainer Louisville team. Ryan Vanderhei pitched last night against Michigan and blanked them in a TCU victory. This one screams Louisville and its offense. Something TCU has struggled with when Vanderhei is not on the mound. He’s been a huge difference maker for the Horned Frogs so far this season. Wrong team favored in this spot I’m sticking with the Cardinals.

Pick: Louisville (-110); $100 bet to win $90.91

  • 3/4/23: Tulane Green Wave (-110) vs. USC Trojans (-120); 4:30pm

This is an incredibly disrespectful line for USC. Tulane has 1 win on the season and the Trojans are only laying 10 cents to them? Nah. Tulane will be starting RHP Christian Sanchez (0-2, 10.13 ERA) who has been obliterated twice in both starts having twice as many earned runs as strikeouts. Trojans will start RHP Jaden Agassi (1-0, 3.60 ERA) who is looking to bounce back from his last start against Auburn where he allowed 3 earned runs (not 10+). I’ll take my shot with the Trojans here at this price. If USC was -165 I would still play that against this struggling Tulane side.

Pick: USC (-120); $100 bet to win $83.33

  • 3/4/23: Rice Owls (+240) vs. Texas A&M Aggies (-305); 7:00pm

No surprise what we will be doing here. Rice is coming off a huge win against #9 Texas Tech Red Raiders and now face the Aggies. I don’t see the Owls coming into this game with fear. No update on who is starting for Rice but we know who the Aggies will have. Texas A&M will trot out LHP Troy Wansing (0-1, 5.19 ERA) who had a solid outing against Portland with 9 strikeouts but finished with the loss. The pricing is off here per usual on the Aggies. In no world should anyone lay -305 with this team. Rice will be pumped for the big stage with upset on its mind for the second day in a row.

Pick: Rice (+240); $100 bet to win $240
