College Basketball Season Record: 178-170-11 — Betting 1 Unit to Win X
11:00am cst: Houston Cougars -2.5 vs. Baylor Bears; Total 135.5
I made this number Houston -2. The reasons are that Houston is a better defensive and rebounding team. The great equalizer is the three-point shot, and Baylor is one of the best in the country from deep. LJ Cryer will be making his return to Waco as well. Scott Drew should know how to defend him and his weaknesses. What will be huge in this game is Houston’s ability to switch every screen. It’s a fascinating matchup. I’ll take the home dogs here.
Pick: Baylor +2.5 (-112) [via DraftKings]
11:00am cst: Notre Dame Fighting Irish vs. Syracuse Orangemen -6; Total 134
Notre Dame is on a three-game winning streak, and Syracuse just defeated NC State on a possible NCAA tournament run. Notre Dame has been playing tough defense, especially on the road. Syracuse has not had much success as a favorite ATS. There are too many points against a very game ND squad.
Pick: Notre Dame +6 (-110) [via DraftKings]
11:00am cst: Indiana Hoosiers vs. Penn State Nittany Lions -4; Total 150.5
Indiana on the road? No chance. This Indiana team is in a bad place right now, sinking faster than the Titanic. This Penn State has been great for us all season and they keep getting better. I don’t expect any let down spot after the Illinois victory. I think they build on that game and they will do it with their defense.
Pick: Penn State -4 (-112) [via DraftKings]
2:00pm cst: Cincinnati Bearcats vs. TCU Horned Frogs -4; Total 146.5
This line is a few points short of where it needs to be. TCU is a great rebounding team and they outrebounded Cincinnati on the road in a game the Horned Frogs should have won. TCU also has guards that do not get tired. The Cincinnati guards are very inexperienced. TCU should tire out this Cinci team on the glass and up and down the floor.
Pick: TCU -4 (-110) [via DraftKings]
3:00pm cst: Alabama Crimson Tide vs. Kentucky Wildcats -2.5; Total 175.5
This should be a great game and eventually a track meet. Who is the real Kentucky? We keep getting different versions of this team. Can Alabama win on the road? We’ve yet to see them do it in a big game. For that reason, I’d rather back the Kentucky Wildcats and their guards offensively and their ability to guard the perimeter.
Pick: Kentucky -2.5 (-112) [via DraftKings]
3:00pm cst: Texas Tech Red Raiders vs. UCF Knights pk; Total 140.5
This one is really simple. What is Texas Tech very bad at and what is UCF great at? Rebounding. Give me the rough and tough Knights team that will crash the glass with ferocity. Tech wins this game if they can win the rebounding battle. UCF needs this game to get back into tournament conversations.
Pick: UCF pick (-112) [via DraftKings]
6:00pm cst: Oregon Ducks -2 vs. Cal Golden Bears; Total 148.5
This is the most obvious spread of the day. I’ll take the cheese because I just can’t back Cal here.
Pick: Oregon -2 (-110) [via DraftKings]
7:00pm cst: Colorado State Rams vs. UNLV Runnin’ Rebels pk; Total 139.5
Another game where we fade the Rams on the road. We just need UNLV to make their free throws this time. Huge game for both teams regarding tournament tickets.
Pick: UNLV pick (-110) [via DraftKings]
7:30pm cst: Mississippi State Bulldogs -2.5 vs. LSU Tigers; Total 145.5
Let’s play our favorite game: Fade the Mississippi school on the road. Neither Ole Miss nor MSU can win on the road. I’ll take a shot with LSU building on that Kentucky upset win.
Pick: LSU +2.5 (-110) [via DraftKings]
